Japan Summer Programs (High School): Classes & Trips

   The Japan summer programs have a mix of class learning, langauge activities, culture exposures, and culture trips.  The Japanese classes are conducted by teachers with experience in teaching Japanese language to international students.  Students are separated into different classes according to their language proficiency. 

   Japan Youth Immersion (Tokyo E) (age 14-18) is a culture immersion program with language classes, culture and organized city trips, it focuses on experiencing the Japanese culture and improve the language in a short period of time.  After the afternoon practice classes, students prefer to spend their time with new friends before going back to the host families.  In the weekend, students stay with the host families to experience the Japanese life, exchange culture and explore the city together.  This program has beginner and intermediate level classes.

    Classes are in the morning from 10:00 am-12:25 pm, language activities are in the afternoon from 1:30pm-3:10 pm.  The class rooms are located in Shinju-ku of Tokyo.  Tea Ceremony, Calligraphy and trip to Asakusa are part of school activities.  Please refer to the program schedule for details. 

   Japan Culture Discovery: A, B & C these programs have a mix of language classes, cultures and organized trips.  During the free time in some afternoons or on Sundays, students normally prefer to spend their time with new friends or with their host families.  Students can choose either dormitory or homestay.  These programs have classes for all levels.

     The classes are Monday to Friday 20 lessons a week.  They run in the morning from 9:10am-12:40pm.   The class rooms are located in the Chiyoda-ku of Tokyo.  Many culture activities and trips are included, they range from tea ceremony to calligraphy, from Asakusa trip to Harajuku trip, and overnight trip to Fuji Mountain or Kyoto.  Please refer to the program schedule for details.  The difference among A, B & C types are the dates and trips. 

Credits:

   Credit transfer is maybe possible for high school students. Please check with your school counsellor. Upon successfully finishing your courses, you will be provided with certificate, or letter of attendance stating the courses you completed, level, hours, and grade.
